About the Vasco da Gama Bridge

Built to relieve traffic congestion on the Ponte 25 de Abril bridge, the construction project also incorporated a vast environmental programme to preserve the Parque Natural do Estuário do Tejo (Tejo National Park).

This grandiose masterpiece has already clearly made its mark in the history of civil engineering as one of the greatest and most successful projects of the 20th century .
