In May 2002, Secil acquired a major financial holding in CDS Ciment de Sibline, SAL, located in Lebanon, south of Beirut.In 2007 Secil increased its investment and now owns the company’s share capital.

The scale of the investment has allowed Secil to take technical control of the plant, which has a market share of 22%.

Ciment de Sibline is also the third largest clinker and cement manufacturer in Labanon. The plant has annual production capacity of 12 thousand tons of cement and operates two dry process kilns.

The company is currently implementing two major projects, one for converting to coal, which will significantly cut production costs, and another for extending and improving the port facilities located near the plant, which will in future enable the plant to export cement and clinker.

Secil’s fellow shareholders in the company including Lebanon’s largest financial group, Bank de la Méditerranée, and the leader of the country’s Druze community, Walid Joumblatt.
